MOGENSEN Provides Sustainable
Solutions for Salt Processing
Salt processing, particularly for applications such as deicing and industrial use, demands high precision and efficiency. MOGENSEN has developed an advanced screening technology that meets these requirements. A recent installation at a K+S facility in Chile highlights the significant benefits this technology offers to salt processing plants worldwide.
Successful Project at K+S in Chile
In 2021, MOGENSEN delivered four MSizer Extend machines and matching feeders to the K+S facility in Chile. These powerful screening machines, equipped with 6.2 kW drives, process more than 200 tons of salt per hour. They achieve precise separations between 0.6 mm and 10 mm, a crucial factor for the quality of the end product, which is primarily exported to the United States for use as a deicing agent on highways.
Following the success of this installation, K+S placed a second order, which included four additional sizers. These machines, also designed for high performance and precise screening, are optimized for processing salt down to a particle size of 1.2 mm.
A strong focus was placed on the durability of the machines. Since salt is a highly abrasive material, critical components such as the 2-meter-long trays were made from stainless steel and Hardox to minimize wear and extend the equipment's lifespan.
Expanding Global Presence
MOGENSEN has successfully implemented numerous projects worldwide, demonstrating its expertise in salt processing and continuously strengthening its position as a leading provider in the industry.
Iberica de Sales (Spain)
Since 2014, MOGENSEN has been working with Iberica de Sales on a project to screen salt with feed rates of up to 30 tons per hour. This process produces fractions of 4 mm, 2 mm, and 1 mm. Recently, the existing system was upgraded with optical sorting technology, further showcasing MOGENSEN's commitment to continuous innovation.
OHL (Chile)
Another installation in Chile features two MSizer Extend machines and a matching feeder, processing 130 tons of salt per hour. Additionally, a crusher was integrated to reduce the material to as small as 1 mm. This pilot project highlights the potential for future expansions in salt processing.
TEMA (Spain)
In a separate project, MOGENSEN delivered a total of three MSizer machines to process 50 tons of sea salt per hour. These machines can generate fractions ranging from 0.6 mm to over 10 mm, demonstrating the versatility of the MSizer technology in handling a variety of salt fractions.
Future-Oriented Technologies for Salt Processing
With the growing demand for industrial salt, particularly in deicing, chemical production, and food preservation, the need for efficient and sustainable technologies is more important than ever. MOGENSEN’s MSizer technology offers a forward-thinking solution designed for durability, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
By utilizing high-strength materials like Hardox and stainless steel, MOGENSEN ensures that its machines can withstand the harsh conditions of salt processing. This robust design guarantees long-term reliability, even in the most demanding environments, contributing to the sustainable advancement of the global salt industry.
