Our History
For more than 100 years, JOEST has been synonymous with technical excellence, reliability, and continuous innovation in vibrating equipment and bulk material handling solutions. What began as a small repair workshop in Münster in 1919 has grown into a globally active group, with JOEST South Africa serving as the dedicated hub for the African continent.
Since manufacturing our first vibrating machine in 1954, we have consistently advanced our technologies, expanded our manufacturing capabilities, and strengthened our presence worldwide. Key milestones include the relocation of our main German operations to Dülmen, the introduction of innovative machine concepts, and the integration of strong specialist brands into the JOEST Group.
By incorporating renowned names such as HERWEG, DIETERLE, GOESSLING, and MOGENSEN, we have broadened our portfolio and enhanced our ability to deliver the best possible solutions – locally and globally. Today, JOEST South Africa continues this tradition, combining local manufacturing expertise with the resources and innovation of the global JOEST network.

With 12 subsidiaries across four continents, the JOEST Group combines strong local roots with a truly global presence. Our expansion into Africa took a decisive step in 2012 with the establishment of JOEST South Africa, providing customers across the continent with local manufacturing, engineering expertise, and short response times – all backed by the innovation and resources of the global JOEST network.
Founded over 100 years ago, the JOEST Group has steadily expanded its reach: from JOEST Australia in 2001, JOEST USA and JOEST France in 2006, to JOEST China in 2008, JOEST India in 2009, and many more. Each subsidiary strengthens our ability to serve key markets directly, ensuring reliable service and tailor-made solutions.
In addition to global growth, strategic acquisitions have further enhanced our portfolio. The integration of GOESSLING in 2019 brought advanced conveying and automation solutions, while the addition of MOGENSEN in 2024 expanded our capabilities in screening, classification, and sorting technology.
