Sand Attrition Unit
The JOEST Sand Attrition Unit is a powerful and compact solution for the reclamation of chemically bound molding and core sand. In use at numerous foundries worldwide, the system is typically installed in sand reclamation plants between the Shakeout and the Sand Cooler – exactly where efficient sand reclamation is essential.
Thanks to its specially developed vibration mechanism, the Sand Attrition Unit reliably breaks down even strongly bonded sand agglomerates and makes a significant contribution to the quality and reusability of reclaimed sand.
Its robust design, combined with maintenance-friendly features, makes it the ideal solution for demanding production environments with high throughput.
Function
The sand lumps are fed into a specially designed attrition trough. There, linear, high-energy vibrations generate intense friction between the lumps, effectively breaking them down.
A conically shaped fines screen at the discharge end reliably separates the desired fine material from oversized particles. Non-breakable contaminants, such as casting residues, are automatically discharged via a pneumatically controlled rear discharge flap – without interrupting the process.
