The JOEST small screen is a particularly compact version of a linear vibrating screen, specifically designed for fine and coarse screening of small material quantities. Equipped with JOEST’s proven JD dosing drives, the system is ideally suited for separating oversized particles, fines, or dust – for example, in plastic granulate processing, the food industry, or the chemical sector.
Thanks to clamped screen troughs and a modular, easily accessible design, the small screen allows for especially quick and thorough cleaning – a clear advantage in applications with frequent product changes. The infinitely adjustable vibration amplitude is controlled via an integrated thyristor controller, allowing precise adaptation of the machine to the screening material.
FUNcTION
The JOEST small screen operates based on the principle of linear vibration conveying, in which the material is moved and screened simultaneously via one or more clamped screen troughs. The movement is generated by one or two electromagnetic JD dosing drives, which produce a directed, linear vibration. These drives are continuously adjustable, allowing for precise tuning to the specific material characteristics.
The vibration conveys the material continuously across the screen deck, while smaller particles pass through the screen surface. Depending on the configuration, the system is available as a single- or double-deck unit, enabling one or two cut sizes in a single pass. Screen surfaces can be selected to suit individual requirements and are easy to replace.
A key advantage of the small screen is its extremely compact design combined with high throughput capacity. Its plug-and-play functionality, CE-compliant design, and quick cleanability make the machine ideal for production environments with frequent product changes, small batches, or particularly sensitive materials – such as in the plastics, food, or chemical industries.

The machine features one or two clamped screen troughs that are set into linear vibration by electromagnetic JD dosing drives. These drives are continuously adjustable and can be precisely tuned to the specific behavior of the material. The material flows evenly across the screen deck, with particles separated through the screen openings according to size.
The small screen is available in various configurations – as a single- or double-deck unit and with optional covers, outlets, or sleeves/compensators. All screen troughs can be removed without tools, enabling quick cleaning and easy screen changes.
Typical screen widths are 180 mm, 250 mm, or 340 mm, depending on requirements and space constraints. Throughput varies based on material and configuration – for plastic granulates, single-deck units can achieve rates from 150 kg/h up to 1,000 kg/h.
Its compact design allows for easy integration into existing systems or processes. The machine is fully CE-compliant and also suitable for use in ATEX zones, hygienic environments, or automated production lines.
