Efficient Processing of Waste Glass

Designing Glass Recycling Efficiently

Dosing, Screening, Drying, Air Classifying and Conveying

Recycling is gaining importance worldwide. In glass recycling, new plants are continuously being built and existing ones are being modernized.
JOEST offers tailored process-engineering solutions for this purpose along the entire process.
Our portfolio includes the key process steps of dosing, screening, drying, air classifying and conveying, thus covering a large part of the overall process. Our machines are robustly designed and engineered for continuous industrial operation.

Challenge

Wear and Availability

Glass recycling places high demands on the machines used: Sharp-edged glass fragments and abrasive dust lead to increased wear. JOEST systems are therefore consistently designed for durability. Areas critical to wear are protected with highly resistant materials such as composite wear plates or ceramic linings. This reduces downtimes and increases plant availability.

From design to integration into the overall plant, all components are individually tailored to the respective requirements.

Process Overview

Glass Recycling

Waste glass often contains a high proportion of contaminants such as metals, plastics, paper or organic components.
These must be reliably removed in several process steps..

Our Technologies

DOSING

Uniform Material Discharge from the Bunker
The waste glass is discharged from the bunker in a controlled manner and fed into further processing. JOEST Bunker Discharge Feeders with magnetic drive enable a uniform and continuously adjustable material flow. The design is application-specific.

PRE-SCREENING

Effective Separation of Fine and Coarse Fractions
In the pre-screening process, fine fractions are separated and coarse components are conveyed further. JOEST Rod Screens ensure defined separation cuts and reliable material loosening. In addition, lightweight materials are separated using air-assisted processes.

CLASSIFYING

Reliable Separation of Difficult-to-Screen Materials
Moist or inhomogeneous materials require special screening technology. The OSCILLA Flip-Flow Screen reliably separates even materials that are difficult to screen. Dynamic screen mats prevent clogging and ensure consistent separation performance.

DRYING

Reduction of Residual Moisture for Stable Processes
Residual moisture in the material makes further processing more difficult. JOEST Fluidized Bed Dryers reduce the moisture to the desired target value through uniform hot-air flow. Conveying is gentle on the product.

AIR CLASSIFYING & SORTING

Separation of Lightweight Materials and Contaminants
Lightweight materials are reliably separated from the glass by means of air flow. Zig-Zag Air Separators enable multi-stage separation and ensure efficient cleaning of the material.

CONVEYING

Connection of All Process Steps
The individual process stages are connected by reliable conveying technology. JOEST Vibrating Conveyors transport the material safely and continuously. The systems are designed to be wear-resistant and adapted to the respective application.
