APPRENTICESHIP

My internship at JOEST

7. December 2020 Duelmen, Germany JOEST
FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING Internship

Six weeks in the accounting department.

First, let me introduce myself. My name is Lucy Dilkaute-Berse. I am 23 years old and am currently in the 5th semester of International Business and Management studies at the University of Applied Science Bochum. My university requires me to do a six week internship, which I am performing at JÖST GmbH + Co. KG in February and March of 2020.

I support the accounting department which enabled me to expand my knowledge about accounts receivable and the accounts payable. Furthermore I helped with the creation of the annual report. Thus, I got the chance to get to know various different aspects involved in compiling the annual report. Moreover, I was able to connect the theoretical aspects, which I learned in my studies with real-life work. Therefore, recognizing correlations und understanding more of the background was very interesting to me. The next big step is writing my bachelor thesis, presumably in autumn of 2020. In order to increase the international component of my study, I will spend two semesters at a university abroad.

In conclusion I would recommend doing an internship at JOEST, because the employees take time to explain everything in-depth and any question can be asked. What I liked best was having the opportunity to gain work experience in a motivated work environment whilst having the feeling of contributing support to the team.
